Merlot 2008
The 2008 Merlot is a fine and powerful expression of the variety with rich plummy flavours balanced nicely by the fine tannin structure that gives the palate good length and depth. Very much in the vein of the 2007 and a strong example of the textural richness of Merlot grown in the sands of Blewitt Springs.
Shiraz 2008
A beautiful wine that is a benchmark for what we do...super refined expression of terroir. It shows the rich but subtle palate features of all our wines par excellance. Not blockbuster McLaren Vale Shiraz, but more refined indications of prune and plum and chocolate on a palate of great line and length. Again texture here is the delight and a blend of indigenous and inoculated ferments adds further complexity to the fabulous fruit from our 37 year old vines
Merlot 2007
Often seen as a light weight variety this is not so of dry grown Merlot from Blewitt Springs. Rich, dark, plummy with great palate length, ripe cherry flavours are held down by firm tannin to produce a taut wine that will age well. Again, give it some air when young as the structure is full, rich and delicious.

Cabernet Sauvignon 2007
Made from 35 year old vines this wine embodies all that Cabernet from the Blewitt Springs end of McLaren Vale can be. Fully ripe fruit and tiny berries combine to produce strong varietal expression of blackcurrent/ripe berries with a rich chestnut/cashew quality that flesh out this wine into something very powerful indeed. Bright and full with strong tannin structure and great length, this wine drinks well now (decant for that last glass richness from the first glass) and will cellar beyond ten years.
Mourvedre 2007
A variety often blended with its Rhone companions Grenache and Shiraz but when grown well in the right place displays its own profound character. A voluptuous yet savoury wine with masses of fruit-sweet flavour at complete dryness. Effortless tannin structure supports the delicious fruit. Like all our wines it has spent 20 months in small oak, decant to hasten early expression of the compressed flavours.
Shiraz 2007
An elegant medium bodied wine expressive of the characteristics of this variety grown well in this area. Fragrant spice on the nose, rich prune/plum on the palate opening to chocolate/liquorice with more air, and great length on the palate. Good ripe tannin structure and subtle oak - the fruit tells the story here. Will cellar for ten years.
